WikiCMx

Wiki-Científicas Mexicanas (WikiCMx) is a project created in 2020 by Marifer Veloz with the support of the Organization Científicas Mexicanas (now Mexicanas en las Ciencias) in collaboration with Wikimedia Mexico. Our purpose is to create and edit biographical content of women in science on Wikipedia, particularly those who are poorly represented.

Objectives:

  • Reduce the gender gap currently present in Wikipedia regarding the biographical content of women in science.
  • Inspire and motivate others to join Wikimedia projects and contribute to the edition of science-related content.
  • Promote free knowledge and ease of access, particularly to the Spanish-speaking community.
  • Create alliances with educational institutions to promote the use and edition of Wikipedia as a learning tool.
